Travel seems to be trending toward underrated destinations, hidden-gems and small towns outside of metropolitan areas.
All opinions are my own. These are the destinations I see exploding on social media:
OMAN
Oman is located in the Middle East, southeast of Dubai. Oman is actually a fairly large country, with a population of over 4 million. It is on the list of wealthiest countries in the world and has low crime rates. What draws people to Oman is the variety of activity. Stunning beaches, unexpected landscapes, and beautiful cities full of culture. Some of the popular destinations pictured below:
Be sure to check out this location when planning your travels for 2024!

Albania
Did you know that Albania has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world? Me either.
Albania encompasses mountain ranges, preserved beaches, and lakes. This is a nature lovers dream destination! Check out the countries hundreds of thousands of bunkers and learn about their history, explore the old villages and soak up the sun on the picture perfect beaches that you can only reach by hiking.
From research, it sounds like traveling to Albania is difficult without many flights. Do your research before adding this to your plans!
Best for: Nature enthusiasts, Beach Lovers
How to get around: Public Transport or Car
When to go: Shoulder seasons, March & April, September & October
Panama
Panama, South America encompasses rain forest, a desert and picture perfect beaches on either side of the country. Some of the prettiest beaches I have seen are in Coiba and Bocas del Toro. Rocky cliffs rising out of the water, similar to Thailand and Vietnam waters, are what I would compare these locations to. Jungle with beautiful wildlife surrounds these tropics and offers a unique experience!
Best for: Adventure, Nature Enthusiasts, Beach Lovers & Marine Life
How to get around: Car
When to go: December-April
Idaho
Evidently, Idaho has a lot more to offer than potatoes.
A road-trip is the best way to explore all that Idaho has to offer – including national forests with hiking trails and wildlife, national parks that look like another planet and desert-like sand dunes. I hear Boise is a really great city as well! This road-trip would consist of lots of hiking and outdoor exploration, similar to exploring Arizona or Wyoming. Get out to Idaho before the crowds start moving in!

Vietnam
Vietnam is not as new to the travel game, but it deserves a spot here. People are opting to visit Vietnam instead of Thailand in search of the same experiences. The islands and marine life highly attract visitors to the region. The footage of snorkeling experiences are giving the Great Barrier Reef a run for their money!
The culture further attracts tourists. Vietnam has beautiful, historic cities and towns ranking in the top destinations and things to do and see. Furthermore, they have the beautiful rice fields, jungle, waterfalls, outrageously large mountain landscapes and beaches with clear, blue water. Really, what more could you ask for?

Columbia
Columbia deserves thorough research before visiting. While safety is getting better, it is still not the safest place to visit. It is also a country that cannot be covered in one trip, so you will have to decide which areas to visit! The most common travel destinations include the cities of Cartagena, Bogota and Medellin. Although these are cities, you cannot expect English speakers to work or reside here. Be prepared!
On the rise are also the tropical locations of Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia and an island called Isla Grande. Featuring beautiful waters, beaches and marine life, these destinations are growing in popularity.
Best for: Cultural Immersion, Beach Lovers
How to get around: Plane, Car, Private Transfer, Public Bus (sometimes)
When to go: December-March for less rainfall, warm year-round
Slovenia
I literally knew nothing about Slovenia before I started seeing travel enthusiasts hype it up. While Slovenia has wonderful wildlife, mountain ranges, a lively atmosphere and beautiful cities, what impressed me the most was the incredible architecture. To be honest, I don’t know how to explain Slovenia. Let me show you through pictures of some of the top attractions around the country:
